Full Moon

Blue Moons & Lunar Eclipses

The full moon rises at sunset. White, fully round and illuminated, it is the most powerful of all the moon phases. At this time, the earth is between the sun and the moon, allowing a view of the lit side of the moon, which is al- ways there but only visible a short time each month. A full moon is exactly halfway through the lunar cycle.

This is a time for any type of magical working, but stick with increasing (waxing) themes in the days approaching and banishing (waning) in the days immediately following. The full moon’s influence lasts two days on either side.

The full moon is the time to charge and cleanse crystals, water, herbs, and magical tools. Leave them exposed to the moon’s light for at least one night.

The type of full moon known as a “blue moon” isn’t blue at all. It’s the name for a sec- ond full moon in a calendar month, or the third in a season of four full moons. Next Blue Moons: 18 May 2019 & 31 October 2020. There are 7 blue moons in each 19-year moon cycle.

2019 Lunar Eclipses: 21 January and 16 July. Lunar eclipses only happen during a full moon when the sun, moon, and earth are perfectly aligned.
